UPDATE: The first photograph will be listed as part of the #PerspecTez event on objkt which starts on Tuesday 9th September 2025.
I have recently been inspired by a really interesting blog post written by Michael of seeimagery entitled 13 Black and White Photography Ideas (That I Might Try But Haven’t Yet)
It’s a series of shooting ideas and he invited people to add examples of ones they had tried to an X post. He then collected the work that fitted and updated the post with examples.
An awesome idea that also got many of us thinking and has sparked a renewed energy for me to shoot something new.

New Project
I am taking idea number 3 “Document a Place You Know Too Well” and I have begun taking pictures for a project, I am tentatively calling “My Boring Life”
Your backyard. Your street. The break room at work. Your bedroom.
The inside of your fridge. I see you.
Shoot it like you’re documenting it for aliens who’ve never been to Earth. It doesn’t have to be all drama all the time. Just the textures. The moments. The light at 5:57 PM when it hits the grandfather clock weird and turns the floor into a dimensional portal.
BLOG UPDATE AT SEEIMAGERY
A portal that leads to the house of our friend Cassi Moghan, where she explores the confines of the mundane in My Boring Life.
So yeah, make it boring. Then make it matter.

The Concept
Boredom and being bored are concepts that were not allowed in our house when I was growing up.
The cure for boredom is curiosity. There is no cure for curiosity
Dorothy Parker.
So my idea is the very opposite of my life being boring. I challenge myself to find interest, beauty and joy within the walls of my home. Looking again at a place I have lived for the past 10 years.
The Rules
A maximum of one month to shoot what I see in my house and yard. I do have a full-time job so I want to give myself the chance to capture things at different times of day.
No styling.
No moving anything for effect.
No added lighting.
Natural light or the lights in the house only.
No tripod.
No flash.
No in-camera tricks.
Camera set to black and white.
Minimal edit (time limit 1 minute)

Conclusion
I’m going back to my roots. To re-look at things that I see every day. To be infinitely curious
I will update this post as I move on with the project and add some of my favorites as I go along. Not al of them will make the final collection.
I will make the final decisions in September when I have a holiday!
Thank you Michael for the inspiration! (Read the original blog post that started it all)
