Photography Practice

I take pictures all the time, almost every day. Not with my main camera but with my phone. I find this daily practice extremely important. Firstly, it keeps me curious. It keeps me looking.

Sometimes, ideas for future collections come to me. A specific time of day, an angle on a familiar subject or a single subject. It gives me the impulse to return with my camera to shoot scenes properly at a later date.

I will definitely be returning to this station to shoot these silhouettes on the train at golden hour. Daily practice keeps me alert and keeps me hungry for more. I also learn a lot from the limitations of my phone.

Do you practice your photography every day?

What keeps you inspired?

  1. Heck yeah I do, I end up taking more photos on my iPhone then my actual camera lol. My goal is to get a smaller camera I can keep in a jacket pocket or something eventually. But, nothing beats the convience of your iPhone. It’s always there. And you are absolutely right, it gives you a reason to always be searching and looking for the light…. training the eye. Thanks for the great post.

  2. I am thinking the exact same thing. To get a really good small camera! But I also think part of the discipline is that you have to go back (if you can) and find a way to get that shot! Thank you for reading Michael. So few people do.
